Lawrence D. Goldberg

Lawrence Goldberg’s practice emphasizes complex public entity and business litigation, landslide and geotechnical litigation and large personal injury litigation on behalf of both plaintiffs and defendants.

Mr. Goldberg is an experienced litigator and strong client advocate whose work ranges from representation of public/governmental entities and corporate principals to work on behalf of local, national and international companies. In addition, Mr. Goldberg has successfully litigated patent, trademark infringement and trade secret cases.

Mr. Goldberg also counsels his clients on issues relating to the California Government Code, risk avoidance, risk management, employee relations, statutory and regulatory compliance and the implementation of policies and procedures.

Mr. Goldberg has handled a wide variety of disputes for his clients, including:

  • Defense of $100 million catastrophic wrongful death, personal injury and breach of contract claims against a local Bay Area, Municipal Utility District;
  • Current defense and affirmative claims on behalf of a major public entity in a neighborhood-wide multi-million dollar complex landslide matter;
  • Current defense of numerous public infrastructure related landslide, personal injury and property damage claims;
  • Defense of a corporate principal in one of the first major reverse mortgage class action cases in California;
  • Defense of corporate principals in Proposition 65 and nutritional supplement litigation;
  • Prosecution of multi-million dollar broker/lender financial litigation;
  • Patent infringement litigation on behalf of an international dental products and tools manufacturing corporation;
  • Trademark infringement litigation on behalf of a national educational toy company;
  • Trade secret litigation on behalf of a leading school fundraising company;
  • Employment litigation on behalf of local and international companies;
  • Prosecution and defense of boundary disputes, neighbor disputes;
  • Representation of a California-based Pacific long-line fishing corporation;
  • Defense of asbestos related personal injury and death claims on behalf of an international insulation company;

Prior to joining Bowles & Verna, Mr. Goldberg worked with Haines, Brydon & Lea in San Francisco in the area of insurance bad faith defense.
