Cathleen S. Huang

Cathleen S. Huang graduated from the Walter A. Haas School of Business at the University of California at Berkeley. She obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration with concentrations in corporate finance and corporate marketing. Thereafter, she graduated magna cum laude from the Washington College of Law at the American University with emphasis in international business law. While in law school, Cathleen worked as the judicial intern to Justice Vanessa Ruiz at the District of Columbia Court of Appeals. During her third year in law school, she served as a senior staff of the Administrative Law Review, which was a joint publication with American Bar Association.

After graduating from law school, Cathleen worked as General Counsel at Dynadirect.com, Inc., an online retailer. She established its corporate infrastructure and worked closely with management to develop business relationships by negotiating and finalizing contracts with vendors and marketing partners. Dynadirect.com, Inc. continues to be a thriving enterprise.

After four years at Dynadirect.com, Inc., Cathleen joined the litigation practice group at Valerian, Patterson, Stratman & Love. She tried four jury trials, obtaining two defense verdicts and achieving favorable results for her clients in the other cases. She has arbitrated and mediated in excess of thirty cases. The emphasis of her practice is general civil litigation. Cathleen is a member of the litigation section of the American Bar Association and the Contra Costa Bar Association.

Personal Background

Cathleen Huang was born in Taiwan and moved to the United States in 1980. She reads, writes and speaks fluently the Mandarin and Taiwanese dialects of Chinese. She also speaks with conversational fluency the Cantonese dialect of Chinese. As an undergraduate, Cathleen also studied abroad at the International Christian University in Tokyo, Japan to learn Japanese.
