Michael P. Verna is a 1975 graduate of the University of California at Berkeley (Phi Beta Kappa and Summa Cum Laude) and a 1978 graduate of Hastings College of the Law. An experienced trial attorney with an extensive record of accomplishment, Mr. Verna enjoys an A.V. rating from the Martindale Hubbell Law Directory (highest rating), and has been certified as a Civil Trial Advocate by the National Board of Trial Advocacy ("NBTA") since 1986. The NBTA is the only organization accredited by both the American Bar Association and the California State Bar in the specialty area of civil trial law. He has regularly been listed in Best Lawyers of America for several years running and is routinely recognized by the peer reviewed periodical Super Lawyers of Northern California. He was recently profiled as “Top Lawyer” in Oakland Magazine and has been appointed lead counsel in a number of very high profile cases.
Mr. Verna has also been elected by his peers in the trial bar to membership in the American Board of Trial Advocates ("ABOTA"), San Francisco Chapter, and has been selected as a Diplomate with the American Board of Professional Liability Attorneys (product liability emphasis), as Senior Counsel with the American College of Barristers, and as Charter Fellow with the Litigation Counsel of America Trial Lawyer Honorary Society. He additionally enjoys membership in the Million Dollar Advocates Forum, which is comprised only of those attorneys who have obtained jury verdicts or settlements for at least one million dollars for their clients, and has been a longstanding member of the American Association for Justice (Aviation Law Section) and the American Bar Association Section of Litigation (Air and Space Law Committee).
Listed in a number of different Who’s Who publications for his successes as a trial lawyer, Mr. Verna has frequently lectured on issues of interest in civil trial law and was formerly an instructor with the National Institute of Trial Advocacy. He has focused his trial practice on business and personal injury litigation.
