Deborah P. Furth joined Bowles & Verna as an Associate in 2011 after working at an AmLaw 100 law firm in intellectual property and construction litigation from 2010 to 2011.
Ms. Furth's practice centers on construction law, intellectual property and general civil litigation. She is a member of the American Bar Association and the Contra Costa County Bar Association.
Education:
Ms. Furth graduated in 2010 from the University of California, Hastings College of the Law. At UC Hastings, Ms. Furth served as Editor for West-Northwest Journal of Environmental Law and Policy. She also received the Law and Bioscience Project Paper of the Year award for her paper entitled The Intellectual Property Landscape for iPS Cells. During law school, Ms. Furth externed for the Honorable Saundra B. Armstrong, for the District Court in the Northern District of California.
Prior to law school, Ms. Furth received a Masters in Biology-Biochemistry from Smith College as a Wilens Developmental Biology Fellow. She completed a Master’s Thesis entitled Stress, Gender and Muscle Growth and published numerous articles on muscle biochemistry, gender, exercise and cancer. Ms. Furth received her Bachelor’s degree from Smith College in Biochemistry.

Personal Information:
Ms. Furth was raised in San Ramon until moving to Pinole at the end of high school. After high school, Ms. Furth left California for college in Massachusetts. Ms. Furth lived in Massachusetts for six years, Arizona and Washington for a year and the Philadelphia area for three years before returning home to California. In her free time, Ms. Furth enjoys running, outdoor sports, spending time with her husband and chasing after her niece and nephew.
