Michael P. Connolly is a senior associate at Bowles & Verna whose practice is focused on the construction industry and commercial litigation.  

Mr. Connolly has experience representing owners, general contractors and subcontractors in single and multi-party litigation as well as non-litigation business matters.  He has experience in construction defect, delay, change order and cost overrun cases as well as contract review.  In addition, Mr. Connolly has experience representing parties in commercial contract and real property disputes as well as construction insurance coverage related matters.  

 

Representative Experience

  • Currently representing a general contractor in a $40 million dispute arising out of construction of a high rise condominium complex in Southern California.  

  • Currently representing a subcontractor on a recovery claim against a general contractor for prompt payment violations arising out of a Bay Area condominium conversion project. 

  • Currently representing a group of non-profit organizations in a dispute involving Lanham Act and trademark infringement claims.  

  • Currently representing a former corporate officer against claims of alter ego, breach of contract and fraud by a public entity arising out of its dealings with a failed green technology company. 

  • Obtained favorable settlement for mortgage lender against property appraiser for alleged fraudulent and grossly negligent appraisal. 

  • Obtained dismissal at the pleadings stage of borrower's suit against mortgage broker client on statute of limitations grounds. 

  • Lead associate on trial team that obtained favorable settlement on eve of trial after successful motions in limine plaintiff property owner group on legal malpractice claim against former counsel for failure to timely conclude a settlement wtih a public entity. 

  • Obtained judgment of over $250,000 on behalf of investor in minor league baseball team against seller for claims of fraud and breach of contract.  

Education and Background

Mr. Connolly obtained a bachelors degree in political science, with a minor in economics, from the University of California, San Diego, in 2001.  He obtained his Juris Doctor from the University of San Francisco School of Law in 2005.  Mr. Connolly is admitted to practice law in both Arizona and California.  He is also admitted to the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California 

Mr. Connolly is a native of Arizona and lives in Walnut Creek with his wife and son.
